Halloween and LA Cancer Challenge

We spent the past weekend in LA–a quick weekend jam-packed with fun. The main events, Halloween and the LA Cancer Challenge, were scattered in with a lot more fun—-shopping and lunch with my mom, hanging out at Nik’s childhood home, and having dinner at Nik’s older brother Foti and his wife Sarah’s new home. It was really nice to see everyone, and I feel like I was able to spend time with a lot of people.
Mandi and her friends Danny and Christine hosted a fabulous Halloween party. I dressed as an Eskimo, and Nik was a clown. The party was a ton of fun, as their parties usually are!! Here are some pictures… First, me with two of the hosts, Mandi the referee and Danny the devil:

One last…my dad and Martha, rock stars:
Needless to say, we had a blast. They even had a bartender!! No mojitos, but plenty of champagne (in both original and jello forms).
On Sunday, we walked in the LA Cancer Challenge. Nik has lost both of his parents to cancer, and this is the third year in a row his family has participated in the walk. Being the third year we have lived in Northern CA (can you believe it?), we have never joined them…this was our first year. We had about 20 people on our team, Mama and Papa D, and we had custom shirts and sweatshirts made for the team. It was really cool, everyone coming together in memory of Jim and Nikki and helping to raise money for cancer research. A lot of Nik’s family participated, and his close family friends. Here are some pictures from that event:

This was a really special event, and something I hope Nik and I can participate in in the future. Thanks to Foti and Sarah, Nik’s brother and sister-in-law, for organizing this and taking such good care of us! <3

Yay for your visit this weekend! It was great seeing you. Hopefully next time you’re down we can hang out more!
