Cupcakes and Champagne

Nik and I had a sleepover with our friends April and Seth last night. They have recently moved from Davis to Berkeley, and were coming back into town from Boise, via Sacramento. We picked them up at the airport and since April had class in Davis early in the morning, they stayed over.
We love April and Seth!! They’ve become really good friends, and we savor any moment we can spend with them. It happened to be Seth’s birthday on Sunday, so we celebrated with him by having cupcakes and champagne together. There is this incredible cupcake place in Davis, Let Them Eat Cake. They make really interesting kinds of cupcakes, like Cookie Monster (with a glob of raw cookie dough in the middle), Bananas Foster, Acai Berry, etc. I picked up a Legally Blonde (vanilla, plain enough for Nik), French Toast, S’Mores, and True Love (chocolate, peanut butter, and chocolate chips). They were fantastic!! We sat around and ate pizza and cupcakes, drank champagne, and chatted and laughed. Love those guys.

And cheers! Selfless as Seth is, cheers for his birthday, my publication, April’s passing prelims, and Nik walking the 5k!:
These evenings make me feel really grateful for the friends we have developed up here.

I know! Look how calm he looks!! It also turned out a lot…less wet…than your champagne adventure.
Weird how Nik’s reaction to the champagne differs so much from mine in Italy…
Seth and I really enjoyed ourselves last night! Let’s do it again soon!
