A Blinkie Lights the Way, and Holidays

As I’ve written about before, Nik and I have become much better at taking JoJo for walks after he gets home from work. Now that the time has changed and we are getting deeper into fall, it is getting dark really early. It makes it a lot harder to take her, mostly motivation-wise, but also safety-wise. Here enters the wonderful Amy. She has a knack for buying us things at just the right moments. Amy bought JoJo a blinkie light to attach to her collar. It blinks blue, pink, green, white, yellow, etc. and lets off a lot of light. We’ve been taking her out in the dark, feeling safer, and she looks so cute running along with her multi-colored blinkie. Unfortunately, we can’t do the trail walk. Nestled between the horse stables and a farm, there is no light anywhere nearby, and it is the darkest dark I’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t walk it, even with the blinkie and Nik there. So we do the neighborhood, which is really enjoyable. I like checking out all the fall and soon-to-be Christmas decorations. We got ourselves lost tonight, one of my favorite things to do, and ended up clear around the other side of the golf course from our house. It was a long walk, and Jo’s been sleeping ever since.
We are still so excited for Thanksgiving, and I’m starting to get really excited about Christmas (I’ll admit it, I’m excited about Christmas pretty much all year round). I am trying to get a head count for a certain date in December for First Saturday Dinner and a Movie, holiday style. December is often hard to pin people down all at once, but I think it’s looking good. We’re going to be doing our Secret Santa gift exchange, and I have some holiday treats planned (thanks to Mandi for the ideas!).
