Writing a Chapter and Christmas Trees in the Rain

Posted by in Katie's Blog on Dec 2, 2010

Today was a very busy, but very nice day. I spent most of the day editing Sally’s and my newest publication, a chapter in a book called Autism Spectrum Disorders. Sally is out of town and the editing due date is really soon, so she entrusted me to do the final edits and make all the important final decisions! I was a little nervous going in, but it went really well. I sent my changes and decisions to her, and she quickly responded with, “You are wonderful!” and lauded my decisions. She is such a great mentor and makes me feel really accomplished. She gives me so many opportunities in research, publishing, and clinically, and I really appreciate it. So I’ll keep you updated when the book is officially out!

I texted Nik today to ask if he’d like to get the tree tonight, and he agreed (after giving me the option to go to Apple Hill to cut our tree down this weekend…I was tempted, but wanted it tonight). It started to rain before he got home, so I was sure we would postpone the trip….but he picked me up and happily and willingly went tree-shopping in the pouring rain! It smelled SO GOOD. Perhaps even more than fall, I love, love, love Christmas. I love the sights, sounds, tastes, and smells of Christmastime, and tonight was perfect. Rain AND Christmas!!

WOW! That’s fantastic. I am amazed by all you’re doing! And it sounds like your advisor is almost as great as mine! ;-)

Yay for rain, fog, and Christmas trees! You’ve inspired me to get my holiday decor out!
