Busy Bee

Posted by in Katie's Blog on May 18, 2011

As I predicted earlier, this spring has been very, very busy! I have something big going on nearly every weekend for awhile, and a ton of work to get done in between those bookending days. Although the entire spring quarter has been pretty busy, the craziness started last week, when I was getting ready for San Diego. San Diego itself was quite busy too, but also really productive. I fit in a lot of fun and attended great talks, but I also made myself sit down and work on a paper that I have due tomorrow. I knew the workweek was going to be crazy this week, which it is, so I knew I couldn’t put my paper off until the last couple of days (that’s so not me, anyway). I wrote quite a bit in San Diego, managed to study for class on the plane, and came home ready to tackle the extremely busy workweek.

This week has been productive. In addition to work, my friend Zena and I are planning a baby shower forĀ our friend Kimberly, who is due in July! I have really enjoyed the planning, and took on a lot to get ready for it. I decided to make all the favors by hand. I really like being crafty, and I had fun with it. It is going to be a very large shower (60+ guests!) so there was a lot to take into account, and a lot to get done, but it’s been fun. On Friday straight from work, I leave to LA and will enjoy the shower on Saturday. I am so excited for Kimberly and her husband Grady…and little girl Siena! I have only seen Kimberly two or three times since she got pregnant, so I cannot wait to see how big she is now.

Shortly after LA, Nik and I head to Boise to attend the wedding of two of our very favorite people, April and Seth!! I am really excited for a little mini-vacation with Nik, and to see April and Seth’s big day finally take place. April and I have had quite a lot of wedding chats, including one we are planning tomorrow over lunch at the Dumpling House, so I can’t wait to see all of their wonderful ideas finally come to life.

Whew! Throw in a paper, presentation, IEP, therapy sessions, etc., etc. and you get quite the spring! Luckily I thrive in busyness…

P.S. The book I helped write a chapter for is printed and being mailed to my house soon! So excited!!! It was revealed at the conference in San Diego and apparently very well-received!

WOW! And I am thinking about switching to studying adolescents with autism JUST so I can go to conferences with you!
And… I want to see the book in all its glory at the next F.S.!
