Baby Shower!

I just arrived back in Davis after spending a whirlwind just-shy-of-48-hours in LA. On Saturday, my friend Zena and I threw a baby shower for our friends Kimberly and Grady. They are due with their first child, baby Siena, in mid-July. Although it was a bit of a challenge to plan a shower from afar, Zena was a wonderful co-host and I really enjoyed all the planning, shopping, organizing, and crafting. In addition, my mom was a HUGE help in arranging a good deal of the items just not suitable for airplane travel. Finally, Nik was such a great sport and really helped me out a lot, coordinating stickers with paper at the longest Michael’s trip there ever was (and I’m a scrapbooker…) and working some magic on the computer.
Zena and I felt that the shower was a huge success. We had plenty of good food, delicious cake that people raved about, a good amount of activities, and the mommy- and daddy-to-be really seemed to enjoy themselves. Here are some images from the day…
There are the favors that my mom and I made by hand. I rolled and decorated the cones, and my mom made the structures and cellophaned the candy:
Here is one of the activities (I’m sure you’ve all seen a onesie decorating station, although ours also had bibs and socks to decorate and was super cute). In this activity, guests helped to make an alphabet book for Siena. Kimberly and Grady had requested that guests bring a favorite children’s book with a handwritten note for Siena, instead of a greeting card, so I thought this activity fit well with that theme. Guests chose a couple of letter pages and drew pictures representing that letter. Some of the guests were really impressive artists! I can’t wait to get the book bound and send it off to Kimberly and Grady:
Here are Zena and I with the mommy-to-be:
And finally, the mommy- and daddy-to-be with the Nala cake (they are decorating the nursery in a Baby Lion King theme, so we tried to incorporate that whenever possible):
I had a great time planning this for my friends! Congratulations, Kimberly and Grady. You have no idea how excited I am to meet Siena Madison!! Hope you guys enjoyed your special day.

Those favors are so cute, Katie. How creative! Yay for babies and baby showers!
