Boise Adventures!

Nik and I spent the long weekend in Boise! We went to attend the wedding of our good friends April and Seth, and we made sure to make the most out of our trip in exploring a place we would likely never have seen otherwise! And we felt so honored to be included in April and Seth’s gorgeous, perfect, lovely day.
It had been awhile since Nik and I had travelled somewhere together, and we had a good time on our mini-vacation! The first evening there, we decided to explore the outskirts of Boise. We went for a drive and discovered that we hit the end of the city very quickly! We found some shopping to do, and then went back to get ready for dinner at a delicious steakhouse near the hotel.
We started the next day with some room service (including breakfast in bed for me, via Nik) and then headed downtown for some seriously successful clothes shopping. We ran into a street fair/farmer’s market event and strolled around there. I looked up from an exhibit to see our friends Kyle and Haley! They comprised the other couple from Davis that made it to Boise for the wedding. The four of us chatted and walked around until Nik and I got hungry for lunch. After lunch, we did some more shopping and then headed to the hotel for some rest and to get ready for the wedding that night.
The wedding was beautiful, and April was more than gorgeous (and Seth was very handsome).
The weather threatened the ceremony, but I’m glad that April and Seth decided to risk keeping it outdoors. It was a beautiful setting and perfect for them. It sprinkled a bit before the ceremony, miraculously cleared up for the ceremony, and then started to pour right at the end! We shuffled into the heated tent and enjoyed the remainder of the night celebrating, chatting, feasting, and people-watching. It was a wonderful night and I have never seen a happier bride and groom! You two made me so happy, just being present in your happiness!!
Nik and I slept in late the next morning, and then headed to La Vie en Rose, an adorable little bakery and restaurant in downtown Boise. I enjoyed an incredible vanilla latte and light lunch and Nik had their French toast with a…well…you know…Coke. After that, we wanted to go to a soda fountain and candy/chocolate shop that I had found online. Braving the weather, we decided to walk. We literally walked to the end of Boise, all the way backed up into the mountains (yes, it’s small…but it was a long walk!). I put together a box of handmade chocolates for Amy, who was watching and entertaining JoJo at our house all weekend, and Nik tried some of their homemade vanilla bean ice cream. Trying to brainstorm about what to do for the rest of the afternoon, Nik brought up one of my favorite things: ghost towns. What could be better than ghost towns in Idaho??
We walked back to the hotel to pick up the car and GPS, and went on an adventure. Unfortunately, it started pouring rain, especially as we got into the mountains. As we edged closer to the ghost towns, we realized we wouldn’t be able to make it in that weather. The dirt roads were muddy, the way was steep, and it already appeared that some cars had gotten stuck, or nearly so, in the mud. But we ended up having a fun rainy drive through the mountains anyway!
As we entered our warm hotel room, we realized we would be happy staying in that night. We ordered room service and to Nik’s delight, the same steakhouse from two nights prior provided the dinner room service. It was amazing food again! We spent the rest of the evening relaxing in bed!

I love it! I’m so glad you guys explored and enjoyed some of Boise’s little treats and charms. You had some fun adventures! It means a lot that you guys traveled all that way to celebrate with us. We are in extreme bliss and we feel so loved by all of our family and friends. I can’t wait until you guys get married! It is the most incredible, memorable, and amazing feeling. We love you guys.
