Work Pride

Most days at work are pretty great, and some are especially meaningful. Two things happened at work today that made me feel so good.
I was heading to the restroom when Sally spotted me from down the hall and rushed over with a woman in tow. She introduced us–turns out she is a visiting professor/researcher. After introducing us, Sally started to gush about my project. She said, “Katie is the one who developed the coding system I was telling you all about!” Apparently she’s been talking up my dissertation and is really thrilled about what I’ve developed. I am so happy she has been talking about it, and really thinks it’s a useful thing. She’s written it into some of her new grants, as well. Pretty cool!
Later on in the day, I was walking through the MIND Institute lobby and passed one of the other prominent researchers who works there. She called out, “Katie! I love your infancy paper!” This is the paper I had published a few months ago. Apparently she cites it in her work all the time now, and has read through it several times. So cool!
