Nik’s 30th Birthday Bash

Posted by in Katie's Blog on Aug 2, 2011

Nik turned 30 last week! We celebrated by having some guests into town over the weekend, and throwing a big, fun birthday bash for him on Saturday. Here’s a recap…

Justine came into town on Friday evening, and Nik’s best friend Dave and his wife Ashley arrived soon thereafter. We headed out to dinner in Davis, and then came home to relax for a bit. On Saturday we spent the day prepping for the party, while hanging out and relaxing together. Our friends came over in the evening, and the party began!

We had a bit of a throwback to kids’ birthday parties, playing a few modified party games. Since it was so warm out, we started the games with a water balloon toss, which was quite fun. Justine and I made it to the semi-finals, but not beyond that!

The game was pretty tame, but a couple of our friends got drenched…like Amy…

Next, we played a trivia game that I made up for Nik. It was great fun and allowed everyone to learn more about him (he sang in the choir in college and is related to Charles Dickens!). As expected, Dave won…but April came in a very close second, and Caitlin a very close third!

Finally, we modified Pin the Tail on the Donkey and played Pin the Beard on Nik. This game was popular, as were the beards, and we’ve been finding beards all over the house since Saturday…

The rest of the night was fabulous and made me feel so grateful to all of our friends. Nik had a fantastic birthday, which made me really happy. I think this was the best birthday he’s had since we’ve been together…he had such a blast. Combined with my mom, my dad, Martha, Justine, and Memere and Pepere’s thoughtfulness, our friends made this a wonderful celebration. Thank you to all!

I….wouldn’t mind John Stamos being invited to the wedding. You know, family’s so important.

I think I make a bigger deal out of the fact that he’s related to John Stamos. Hehehehe.
