A Good Day

Today was a great day! Sally informed me that a very well-known autism researcher from another university is interested in my work, and he and I are going to begin talking! I am really honored that he is interested, and initial feedback on my work has been fantastic. I can’t wait to work with him further, and see where this takes me and my work. Very cool!
After a good day at work, Nik and I did a bit of shopping. He then went off to have dinner with his friends, and I ordered Indian food for delivery. I look forward to an evening devouring delicious non-Nik friendly food, lounging in my PJs, watching guilty pleasure TV shows (Teen Mom), and starting my new book.
The start to this good week was in LA. Nik and I headed down there last Thursday and spent the weekend with friends and family. I was finally able to meet Kimberly and Grady’s new baby girl Siena. She is absolute perfection, and I was happy to hold, stare and coo at, and play with her for hours. She is really beautiful and Kimberly and Grady are amazing parents.
In addition to meeting this little beauty, I got to help celebrate Justine’s 18th birthday!! I can’t believe that she’s 18, as I clearly remember anxiously awaiting her birth, decorating her baby room in baby pastel Disney and folding her baby clothes. She’s grown up to be a brilliant, hilarious, friendly, down-to-earth gal, and I’m proud to be her sister! I can’t wait to spend this weekend with her and Mandi in Las Vegas!
My mom and I also introduced ourselves to the world of antique shops. We were looking for something specific for the wedding (which we found, and it’s gorgeous!!!), so we puttered around a few Southern California antique shops. It was really fun! A quick but wonderful weekend!

Okay, being able to say that a researcher from another university is interested in your work is pretty much the most bad-ass-you’re-my-idol thing ever. Clearly it’s too awesome to merit any normal or appropriate adjective. You are so amazing. Congratulations!
